Provided strategic advice and policy guidance to Members of Congress in the House and Senate for more than 12 years on foreign policy & national security. Served as the lead majority staffer on the Senate Foreign Relations East Asia and Pacific Subcommittee. Government affairs at Freedom House.
Loves to cook, play tennis, and travel when not cheering on her kids at soccer or hockey. She grew up in South Florida and still prefers the beach to anywhere else.
Sarah Trister is a Managing Director on FGS Global's International Affairs team in Washington, D.C., where she helps global clients navigate complex government affairs and communications challenges in the United States and internationally.
Sarah brings over 12 years of senior Capitol Hill experience advising members of Congress on foreign policy and national security. Most recently, she served as Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Senator Edward J. Markey (D-MA), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and Cybersecurity, where she was the lead majority staffer. Previously, as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI), she oversaw all policy and legislative operations for the office. Sarah also spent five years at Freedom House conducting advocacy on human rights in American foreign policy, and began her career on the legislative team for Congressman John W. Olver (D-MA).
Sarah holds a Master's Degree in American Government from Georgetown University, completed a Certificate in International Studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and earned a B.A. at the University of Miami (FL).
A South Florida native, Sarah is an avid cook, tennis player, and traveler who enjoys hiking and cheering on her kids at soccer and hockey—though she still considers the beach her favorite destination.
